Why Air 1st

Sales, parts, maintenance, avionics and refurbishment — on one field.

Most brokers sell aircraft. Air 1st has owned and operated the largest fleet of MU-2s in the world, and manages the maintenance on all of them. The majority of our inventory is aircraft we own or have owned — we personally inspect, fly and squawk every sales aircraft before it is listed.

That vertical integration is the difference. Carolina Turbine Support, our FAA Part 145 repair station, works exclusively on MU-2s. Aiken Aviation, our FBO, is on the same ramp. When something needs to be understood, corrected or documented, it happens here rather than being coordinated across three states.

  1. 1977Founded at Bush Field, Augusta, Georgia
  2. 1995Relocated to Aiken Regional Airport; purpose-built hangar and offices
  3. 1997Acquired the KAIK fixed base operator — now Aiken Aviation
  4. 1999Carolina Turbine Support added as an FAA Part 145 repair station
  5. Air 1st also carried out STC field testing for the five-blade composite MT-Propeller on both the MU-2 and the Twin Commander, and created the Platinum Series refurbishment programme.

MT-Propeller

We did the STC field testing. Now we install them.

Air 1st carried out the STC field testing for the five-blade composite MT-Propeller on the Mitsubishi MU-2 and the Twin Commander, and is the exclusive MT-Propeller dealer for the MU-2 and Twin Commander in the United States and Canada — as well as a dealer for Central and South America.

Buying, selling, upgrading or simply working out whether the MU-2 is the right aircraft — the conversation starts the same way, and it starts with someone who flies these.
